Decorated Letters with Holly Monroe

Add pizzazz to your artwork with inspiration from early illuminated initial letters to contemporary decorated capitals. Oregon lettering artist Holly Monroe will share Medieval manuscript illumination from the JP Morgan Museum and Mt Angel Abbey, the early 20th century creations of AT Bondy, LL Fields, A Mungo and Jewell Bethel.  Also offered for inspiration will be decorated letters by both Holly and her father Cliff Mansley Sr, and other striking examples of contemporary decorated letters. In addition to explaining traditional illumination materials, Holly will share some easy ways to add gold.  Holly V. Monroe https://www.hollymonroe.com/ is an Oregon-based third-generation calligrapher with a deep appreciation for beautiful lettering and fine art. Tutored from childhood by her mother in art and her father in calligraphy, she has studied under some of the world’s finest calligraphy instructors.
