Rare, delicate and beautiful, Black Hours--15th century personal prayer Books of Hours written on parchment dyed black--became a passion for Tiarna Zupan due to a Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) mentor. In this program, Tiarna will discuss the history of Black Hours and some ways they were created. After sharing her own luminous certificates on black, Tiarna will demonstrate techniques she has learned through trial and error as well as from other scribes who have used the Black Hours as exemplars for their works.
