About the event
Throughout the ages, acanthus leaves have adorned everything from manuscripts to mausoleums. Master Penman Rosemary Buczek fell in love with acanthus borders and has incorporated them into her illuminated commissions--including tributes presented to Popes Francis and Benedict--which she will share during her presentation*. To help us plan our own ornamentation, Rosemary will draw the leaf in a few different ways and then show us how to create the border--plus demonstrate a simple painting technique. (Zoom opens at 7pm ET for conversation, *program begins at 7:30.)
About Rosemary Buczek: Rosemary's skills were recognized by IAMPETH in 2001, when she achieved the title of Master Penman. From her Pennsylvania studio The Gilded Quill, Rosemary combines her calligraphic ability with illumination and gilding techniques to create beautiful one-of-a-kind resolutions, awards, hand-lettered books and illuminated manuscripts.
